One of the earliest ripening varieties with green skin and red pulp, this sweet fig is known by various names, including Nordland in Switzerland, Longue d’Aout in France, Niagara Black in Canada, and all these names and more in the US. Almost Eden plant nursery in Merryville, Louisiana sells this variety as Cucumber. The small “Cucumber” Nordland tree ordered by mail here one year produced figs the next.
Nordland produces a sizable green pear shaped main crop fig, that can blush toward black. Its breba figs are more elongated. Unripe breba figs posted below, and last year’s main crop figs at bottom.
