Edible blue honeysuckle, ripe already, the Berry Blue variety, with the great flavor of a tart grape and strawberry and wild blueberry, mixed. The very earliest ripening varieties of edible blue honeysuckle are usually called honeyberry, with lineage typically originating primarily in eastern Europe and Russia. The later but still very early ripening varieties of honeysuckle are typically called haskap, with lineage originating in northern Japan.
Haskap berries are about twice the size of many though not all varieties of honeyberry fruits. The fruits are considerably variable in form as can be seen in the photos. The first 3 photos are Berry Blue honeyberry, mostly ripe, while the latter 3 photos are 3 varieties of haskap, almost all unripe.
