Certain dark skin varieties of figs can taste a lot like brown sugar. Brown sugar figs have brown or amber pulp, and sometimes brown skin, or blue, lavender, or purple. Brown sugar figs, per their name, are often very sweet. A few brown sugar fig varieties include the very productive LSU Improved Celeste and LSU O’Rourke, also the later ripening Palermo Reds and the breba producer Grantham’s Royal, among others.
