LSU Purple

Mature LSU Purple fruit can taste like maple sugar candy:

As Ronde de Bordeaux and Violette de Bordeaux have different molasses berry flavors in two outstanding cultivars, LSU Purple has a different sugar flavor compared to LSU Improved Celeste and other sugar type cultivars. The figs of an established LSU Purple tree can taste much like maple sugar candy, a flavor familiar to most northern growers, providing for interesting comparisons. LSU Purple is a mid-season fig, beginning to ripen a few weeks after Improved Celeste with Violette de Bordeaux and Brooklyn White. Though unlike Violette and Brooklyn White, LSU Purple produces no breba crop six weeks prior, it remains a beautiful flavorful fig that can produce in short seasons.
