These fully ripe sweet currants are some of the same fruits photoed exactly a month prior – here – when they were also very edible though somewhat tart. Currant fruit can continue to hang without spoiling when full ripe, somewhat depending on weather and growing conditions. Songs birds and wild turkeys left these white currants alone, this year at least, and went after the gooseberries instead, even though unlike currants, gooseberries have thorns to protect their fruit a bit, typically though only if the limbs grow tangled enough to give extra shelter to the berries.
