Juneberries (serviceberries) have come and gone in a big flush but other June fruits are producing: haskap, goumi (large & small), carmine jewel cherry, and Nanking cherry photoed here. The sweetest fruit seems to depend on which is most ripe. All of these fruits have a reputation for being tart but on mature plants all seem to sweeten up well if picked dead ripe. The haskap and small goumi seem inherently the most tart- may take the longest hang time to sweeten. Interesting how close some haskap taste to wild strawberries.
