Amber Autumnberry (Autumn Olive). There are multiple varieties of amber Autumnberry. One has larger fruit than all other Autumnberry that I’ve come across, red or amber. It’s also sweeter, if not quite as flavorful as the red varieties. Another variety of amber Autumnberry is more prolific than the large fruit variety but with smaller and less sweet fruit. While a number of states list Autumn Olive as invasive, it’s a reliable and prolific berry to have one hand in late summer and fall when many other berries are finished. The very fibrous if nutritious kernels can be spit or swallowed.
